Syllabus

The Individuation Intensive syllabus will be adapted to the needs and wishes of the participants.  Group sessions will be held every two weeks.   Between sessions there will be required readings, inner practices and peer support meetings with a designated group member.

  • Class 1. Introduction: The Experience of Individuation
    • Structure of the course—presentations, group discussion, individual processing, dream and Self-work journaling
    • Homework and partnering—check in weekly
    • Working with Ego, Shadow and Self: finding your edge
    • Intention, attention and awareness
  • Class 2. The Two Sides of the Ego
    • The ego, personality and sense of self
    • Positive and negative aspects of the ego
    • Shadow ego: control, judgment, being special
    • Strengthening the ego; curbing the ego
  • Class 3. Owning the Shadow
    • Personal and collective shadow
    • Gold in the shadow—working with chaos, fear and disgust
    • Dreams, conflict and shadow-work
    • Unconscious beliefs and assumptions
  • Class 4. The Path of Relationship
    • Foundations of love: tolerance, empathy and acceptance
    • Self-compassion and loving-kindness
    • Cultivating gratitude, appreciation and generosity
    • The practice of loving: devotion and selfless service
  • Class 5. Contacting the Self
    • Balancing effort and surrender
    • Self aspects: stillness, unexpected, subtle, non-emotional feeling
    • Pure intent is empty of motive
    • Practices: prayer, meditation, ritual, fasting, retreat
  • Class 6. Integration and Commitment
    • Putting it together
    • Daily practice
    • Blocks to integration and commitment
    • Inner guidance
