This recipe to works pretty well to keep the deer herd from rampaging through my garden. This spring I did not lose any tulips and only a few tree buds were nibbled.
Makes 4 cups to cover about 1000 square feet of garden:
- 4 cups water
- 6 – 10 cloves of peeled garlic
- 2 eggs
- 1 TBL ground chili
- 1 TBL fish fertilizer
- ¼ – ½ bar of Irish Spring soap – cut into ¼” slices (Costco has Irish Spring in bulk)
Put 2 cups of water and all the ingredients except the soap into a blender and blend very fine Add soap and blend on low until dispersed. Soap causes the mixture to foam, so take care not to overflow the mixture. Add the extra 2 cups of water and mix in.
Apply using a hose end sprayer set to 8 oz per gallon all around the garden and even beyond the garden boundary. Do not apply to green vegetables if you are going to eat them within 2 weeks Reapply every 3 weeks and after rain or snow.
